The Brief

Founded in 1973 by Rachel Robinson, the Jackie Robinson Foundation has advanced higher education by providing generous, multi-year scholarship awards.  I have been fortunate enough to have worked with the JRF on various design projects for almost 20 years.  This latest project was to create an “intra-website” displaying videos, audio files and flip-books detailing Jackie Robinson’s life and the Foundation’s work.  Technically the site needed to work with specific screens on kiosks being used during their annual awards dinner.  The website needed to be local and only available to viewers at the kiosks.

The Result

The content of the site was the highlight so the design remained very simple.  There would be no web browser so all navigation throughout the site would be done using the touch enabled buttons.  Playing videos, audio files and turning pages through the filp-books were also possible through touch.  Student scholars, Foundation sponsors and guest speakers all enjoyed viewing the athlete, entrepreneur and humanitarian that was Jackie Robinson.
