The Brief

The Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Business Improvement District (BID) supports a vibrant, neighborhood commercial corridor that serves a diverse community of property owners, businesses, residents, workers, and visitors.  I was brought in to re-design their website using the bright color scheme of their logo and create ways to use the site to engage both their business and community target audiences.  They planned to keep this site up to date featuring new businesses and community news so it was also important that they be able to maintain the site themselves.

The Result

The Myrtle Avenue BID logo contained blocks of color to represent the street and different communities.  The website continues that theme using the bright colors to call attention to news items and important links to the shopping and dining directory sections.  An events calendar, job board and social media feeds were integrated to inform the community of happenings in the area.  The site was developed in the WordPress content management system with custom programming so that BID staff could “fill in the blanks” when wanting to add new content to the site.  Additional projects such as a shopping value card registration used as an email address collection tool have been developed for the BID.
